Welcome to

The Taxi Stand [Links Page]

Here you will find a mishmash of external resources that I think you may find interesting as you research railroading in the Streamliner era or plan further journeys through time and space.

Travel Sites

American Rail Excursions, Inc. - Specializing in nostalgic North American private rail tours - Ever wanted to travel by private car? These folks can make it happen...all it takes is [plenty of!] money.

Cunard Cruise Lines - Ships for luxury vacations - There is still at least one company offering regularly scheduled transatlantic travel in a civilized manner.

The Man in Seat Sixty-One . . . - Perhaps the single best resource out there for planning civilized [i.e., rail and ship] travel in the here-and-now. Detailed information with sample timetables, fare info, and where, when and how to book your journey. Covers all corners of the globe but especially indispensable in Europe and Asia. The finest personal web page I have yet seen on the Internet - when my site grows up, I want it to be just like "Seat 61..."

Orient-Express - Owns and manages hotels, trains, cruises and restaurants in some of the most magical locations our planet has to offer.

Trip Advisor - 5,000,000+ traveler reviews & opinions of hotels, vacations & more - Hotel and attraction directory and reviews from around the world.
